San Francisco's waterfront is home to Fisherman's Wharf, famed for its fresh seafood and charming ambiance.

   
 
Fisherman's Wharf is anchored by Pier 39 to the east and Ghirardelli Square to the west.

Ghirardelli Square has housed a family-owned chocolate factory for more than 100 years. You can sample
sweets at the famous soda fountain or visit one of the square's 50 restaurants, galleries and shops.

Pier 39 was built as a cargo pier in 1905 and was refurbished in 1978.

The Pier 39 marketplace features more than 110 shops, 11 restaurants and dozens of attractions.
The site is one of the city's top tourist destinations, attracting more than 10.5 million visitors each year.

Pier 39 is also home to California sea lions, who often sunbathe at the nearby K Dock.

The barking sea mammals took over the docks in 1990, and visitors have enjoyed their antics ever since.

The waterfront offers great views of the San Francisco Bay and neighboring landmarks.

The Blue & Gold Fleet's ferries take visitors to Alcatraz Island and other nearby attractions.

The marina is home to small fishing boats and pleasure craft, many of which are available for charter.

The bay is also home to larger boats, including tall ships and cruise ships.
