San Simeon - Hearst Castle
San Simeon is home to Hearst Castle, William Randolph Hearst's magnificent seaside mansion.
Construction at San Simeon began in 1919 and continued until Hearst left in 1947.
The estate features 165 rooms and 127 acres of gardens, terraces, pools and walkways.
The Neptune Pool holds 345,000 gallons of water.
 
The rooms at Hearst Castle are furnished with a vast collection of Spanish and Italian antiques and art.
The Hearst Corporation donated the estate to the people of the State of California in December 1957.
