Carillon Beach

Carillon Beach History

Carillon Beach is one of 11 beach communities that dot scenic Highway 30-A, an 18-mile road that runs along the gulf coastline in the Panhandle's Walton County. Carillon Beach is just over the border in neighboring Bay County, about 12 miles from Panama City Beach.
In 1982, the William Biggs family purchased the land that now comprises Carillon Beach. The community was designed by Lloyd Vogt, a New Orleans-based architect who modeled his plans on the pedestrian cities of ancient Rome and Athens. Development began in 1991, and Carillon Beach became among the first in a growing group of planned beach communities.
Carillon Beach is a small village of just 104 acres. Streets run in an orderly grid that leads to several community pavilions. In the center of town, you'll find the community's namesake: a 37-bell carillon. This striking bell tower provides a visual focus for Carillon Beach while offering soothing sounds that complement the winds and waves of the neighboring gulf.
The pastel-hued homes of Carillon Beach mesh nicely with the white sands and emerald waters of the Florida Panhandle. Residents enjoy the small-town appeal, while visitors come to experience the shopping and fine dining along the village beachfront.

Activities

Carillon Beach offers many amenities, including a 12-acre lake and spacious walkways that are suitable for hiking and biking. Everything is within walking distance here, and the village Promenade was specifically built to encourage peaceful strolls throughout the neighborhood.
Bellview Park is located at the west end of the Promenade. The facility has a large outdoor pool, children's pool, playground, basketball courts, tennis courts, pool house and pavilions.
The white sands of the Gulf of Mexico are also located nearby for those who prefer swimming among the waves. Beach pavilions offer visual impact as well as a gathering spot for residents and guests.

Downtown Carillon Beach offers a selections of shops, offices and restaurants. Other amenities are located in neighboring beach communities, including the Spring Break mecca of Panama City Beach, which is just 12 miles away.
