Seacrest Beach History

   Seacrest Beach is one of 11 beach communities that dot scenic Highway 30-A, an 18-mile road that runs along the gulf coastline in the Panhandle's Walton County. Until recently, Seacrest Beach was one of the quietest of these communities, but recent development has brought an influx of residents and tourists to the area.
   Seacrest Beach has some of the highest sand dunes in the region. From atop the dunes, you can gaze out into the Gulf of Mexico and glimpse a passing dolphin or other aquatic visitor.
   The Creek Indians once lived along this stretch of beachfront, and neighboring Camp Creek Lake is named in their honor. This dune lake straddles Highway 30-A, just west of Seacrest Beach.
   Although Seacrest Beach is located on the Florida Panhandle, it has a distinctly Caribbean feel. All homes in the community adhere to a West Indian-style of architecture, which gives the homes unity and character.

Activities

   Seacrest Beach lies along the gulf coast, offering a variety of water-based activities, from swimming and surfing to boating and fishing. The coastline also offers ample opportunities for hiking, beach combing and wildlife viewing.
   The local retail area is growing, and neighboring beach communities offer shops, stores, restaurants and entertainment venues.
   Nearby Camp Creek Lake, which is located within a coastal marshland, is home to native wildlife and wading birds. More than 200 live oaks are planted along the lake, which is also home to the private Camp Creek Golf Club.
