Litchfield BeachLitchfield Beach HistoryLitchfield Beach is located in South Carolina's historic Low Country, which stretches from Myrtle Beach south to the Georgia border. The unincorporated community is aligned with neighboring Pawleys Island, which has served as a popular summer beach resort for more than 200 years.The town takes its name from Litchfield Plantation, an oak-shaded rice plantation located on the Waccamaw River. The former manor house now serves as the lodge for the Litchfield Country Club. Litchfield Beach was established in 1978.
