Seabrook Island
Seabrook Island History
South of Kiawah Island, the small barrier island of Seabrook is rich in beauty and offers an array of recreational opportunities. The island is home to approximately 1,250 year-round residents.Most of the homes on Seabrook Island lie within a master-planned gated community that's divided into six zones: Ocean, Marsh View, River and Ocean, Golf Course, Lakes, and Tennis. These names show the diversity of Seabrook Island, which offers a variety of social and recreational amenities.
Although Seabrook Island is a relatively new community, the land has a long and varied history that dates back to the neighboring Kiawah Indians. Centuries-old live oaks blend seamlessly with new homes and landscaping on this scenic resort island.
Activities
Fishing tackle and crab net rentals are available on Seabrook Island, whose waterways are full of seafood delicacies. There are 30 miles of paved leisure trails to explore, whether by foot or by bicycle.
Seabrook Island Resort offers a three-mile beach as well as a racquet club, fitness center, kids camp, and access to boating, fishing and local golf courses.
The Club at Seabrook Island is a private facility that opened in 1991. Amenities include two golf courses, tennis, an equestrian center, swimming pools and dining as well as organized sporting and social events.
Nearby Charleston offers all the excitement of a big city as well as a historic downtown and fantastic regional cuisine.
